Blue Moon Rising already has a few CD's under their belt and it shows in this one which is definitely a great sounding CD. Especially, with adding the fact that they are writing their material. For this recording the band had some added support by Ron Stewart playing fiddle and Randy Kohrs on Dobro for a few numbers.
This band is more towards the modern contemporary side. For those who prefer the rough edges that come with many traditional bluegrass bands, don't' turn your back on this CD. It has great material and very tasteful playing.
I would suggest this CD to anyone who enjoys bluegrass as this CD is bluegrass. The singing is clean and the harmony blend is what you would expect from a well-seasoned band. This is an all around great CD. Nothing is shortchanged here.
Liner Notes:
Songs, credits and musicians are listed for each song. Song times are listed on the back cover and the CD label.
I like to open a CD insert and read about the band. Unfortunately, what I was presented with were thank you, thank you, and more within the paragraphs by each band member and a band paragraph with more of same.
Included are pictures of person's who I'm sure are significant to the band. But valuable space is taken up by these pictures that consume a total of near three panels. In addition, there is no mention of who these two people are.
Here was a missed opportunity to present information about band members and the band. Someone missed the boat on the liner notes or was overruled.
This is a CD that you should add to your collection.
