Fiddler's Green
Sugar Hill SH4006
(Review by Pete Milano)
Rating: Better than most Rating

" Fiddler’s Green: The happy land/heaven imagined by sailors where there is perpetual mirth, a fiddle that never stops playing and dancers that never tire.

“This is intimate music, good for a quiet morning or evening at home. A few solos, a duet, and some spare acoustic ensembles. There’s a good dose of fiddling, and about half of the songs are traditional. Traditional music sometimes seems mysterious, but it’s always familiar. It’s comfortable like an old pair of shoes, and its timeless melodies and themes are the building blocks of the newer songs here … As Louis Armstrong once said, ‘All music is folk music. I ain’t never heard a horse sing a song.’”

—Tim O’Brien, from the liner notes to Fiddler's Green"

There you have it right from Tim O'Brien himself. Take a listen to the sound bites and you decide if this CD is for you. For me, well I like bluegrass for listening to and playing. With that said I can say that this is a great CD with some diversions from bluegrass. I definitely enjoyed listening to this CD.

For a fantastic recording, great selection of songs and stories to be heard, buy this CD.

Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995
The Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995

The Bluegrass Connection(tm), is the second Bluegrass Music site created on the World Wide Web. Our mission, design and concept was developed during 1994 and The Bluegrass Connection website was introduced on the Internet during 1995 and presented at the 1995 IBMA in Owensboro, Kentucky.

During our early years The Bluegrass Connection would highlight a particular band or artist for a period of time on our homepage. As a result, many bands were able to reach out to their fans and introduce themselves to new audiences quickly. Due to many inquiries and requests to bring that feature back, we have reinstituted the "featured band" on our homepage.
