Tad Marks
Tad Marks may be the best "fiddle player and then some" kept secret in bluegrass music. His ability to play many types of music flawlessly is only the beginning of what this talented musician and entertainer is capable of. Tad cut his teeth playing traditional bluegrass music during the 1980's with the Twigg Brothers from Maryland. They played Stanley Brother tunes almost exclusively providing Tad with the opportunity to become very skillful in producing that lonesome and blues' sound. After leaving the Twigg Brothers band Tad spent time playing in the Del McCoury and James King bands. Tad was with James King during the mid 1990's and preceded Jason Carter on fiddle with the Del McCoury Band during the early 1990's.
This CD by Tad presents a wealth of musical talent that is both enlightening and entertaining. Tad's vocals are distinct and executed perfectly. His writing only begins to demonstrate the talents that Tad has. Although this CD is not totally bluegrass, what Tad presents is so great that I can't believe that anyone could object to the deviation on a few songs. Esther Haynes provides a welcomed gorgeous voice to a classic "It's only a paper moon", as well as "A love so true" and "East Tennessee Girl".
Little Cabana is the closing song on this CD and what a GREAT song it is. If this song doesn't put a smile on your face then I would wonder what would. For bluegrass, I can't keep the song Carlene from ringing in my ears and the first track, Our Crazy Love Affair.
Not to overlook one of the best parts about this CD, Tad Marks fiddle playing which is second to none. Usually, I will think and sometimes say that a CD would have been much better if "they" had just recorded bluegrass music. However, for this CD to say that would mean that we would miss out on so much great music and entertainment.
This is a "must have" CD for anyone's collection. Don't pass it up.

Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995
The Bluegrass Connection(tm), is the second Bluegrass Music site created on the World Wide Web. Our mission, design and concept was developed during 1994 and The Bluegrass Connection website was introduced on the Internet during 1995 and presented at the 1995 IBMA in Owensboro, Kentucky.
During our early years The Bluegrass Connection would highlight a particular band or artist for a period of time on our homepage. As a result, many bands were able to reach out to their fans and introduce themselves to new audiences quickly. Due to many inquiries and requests to bring that feature back, we are seriously considering a "featured band" on our homepage again.
