(Review by Pete Milano)
Rating:

Slipstream is a Boulder based band and as they say "compact". The band is comprised of three very talented musicians, Rich Zimmerman, Brad Murphy, and Paul Waitnas. That's the band! But what a sound they generate. What comes to mind is a progressive bluegrass version of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Smooth confident voices that blend with perfect harmonies is one way to describe this group. This, their debut CD is top-notch with great instrumentation, song selections and arrangements. If one were to look for a downside it would be that a few songs are on the long side. The total time for this CD of 12 songs is 52 ½ minutes. But, if you like the song you are listening to then hearing it for 4, 5 or 6 minutes would be a positive.

Are you a fan of a progressive sound that is on the fringe of being associated with bluegrass? If your answer is yes then get this CD immediately if not sooner. You say that you are a traditional bluegrass music fan? Then look at expanding your listening pleasure to some new style. Oh, yes there is a banjo on this CD and can be heard throughout the song "As Long As I Can See The Light", which has the influence of the "Hot Rize" band from years ago.

The Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995

The Bluegrass Connection(tm), is the second Bluegrass Music site created on the World Wide Web. Our mission, design and concept was developed during 1994 and The Bluegrass Connection website was introduced on the Internet during 1995 and presented at the 1995 IBMA in Owensboro, Kentucky.

During our early years The Bluegrass Connection would highlight a particular band or artist for a period of time on our homepage. As a result, many bands were able to reach out to their fans and introduce themselves to new audiences quickly. Due to many inquiries and requests to bring that feature back, we have reinstituted the "featured band" on our homepage.
