Rhonda Vincent & The Rage
'Ragin Live'
Rounder
CDROUN0553
(Review by Pete Milano) Rating:
This is a live recording that ranks among the best that I have ever heard. The song selections including the order that they are performed, the announcing by Rhonda along with the energy that emits are only a few things about this recording that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat straining to hear every little bit of the music.
Recorded live in The Sheldon Concert Hall in Missouri.
Some of the things that Rhonda says before songs are performed include such information as;
- Bassist Mickey Harris sings "Heartbreakin' Old Achin' Blues",
- Hunter Berry plays the instrumental "Me Too."
- Josh William sings his own composition, "Cheatin' Kind of Life."
- Daughter Sally joins Rhonda on vocals to sing "One Step Ahead Of The Blues"
I don't usually quote others however in this case who better to quote than record label Rounder who Rhonda Vincent records for. Rounder continues year after year to deliver top notch artists and recordings. Recording on the Rounder label makes a statement that the artist is of a high quality.
"Recorded before a rapturous audience at The Sheldon Concert Hall in her native state of Missouri, Ragin' Live captures Grammy® nominated bluegrass sensation Rhonda Vincent and her band The Rage at their dynamic, full-throttle best. The recipient of an unprecedented five consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association, Vincent makes music sparkling with hard-driving instrumental breaks, soaring vocal harmonies, and a heartfelt intensity that is entirely her own. Featured throughout, the members of The Rage prove themselves to be one of the best supporting bands in bluegrass, matching Rhonda's vigor and pushing her to dazzling new heights."
If you are looking for a bluegrass CD that you can play over and over again and absolutely, positively never ever get tired of. This is the one!

Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995
The Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995
The Bluegrass Connection(tm), is the second Bluegrass Music site created on the World Wide Web. Our mission, design and concept was developed during 1994 and The Bluegrass Connection website was introduced on the Internet during 1995 and presented at the 1995 IBMA in Owensboro, Kentucky.
During our early years The Bluegrass Connection would highlight a particular band or artist for a period of time on our homepage. As a result, many bands were able to reach out to their fans and introduce themselves to new audiences quickly. Due to many inquiries and requests to bring that feature back, we have reinstituted the "featured band" on our homepage.
