Gibson Brothers
Long Way Back Home
Sugar Hill Records
(Review by Pete Milano)

"Eric and Leigh Gibson pair distinctive voices for that gentle and bittersweet sound." --The Tennessean

"Vocal talent obviously runs in the family." --Bluegrass Unlimited”

I can remember back a few years when the Gibson Brothers were named the 1998 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year. As the years go by for some bands they become tighter and more mature with their sound and style of music. What I have found with the Gibson Brothers is that have taken it a step further by exploring different sounds and styles.

This latest CD from Sugar Hill records demonstrates that the Gibson Brothers are more than a repetitious band. Give them (Gibson Brothers), much credit to perform new and different material while still delivering that all too familiar tight harmonies reminiscent of brother duets.

Expect to hear a more polished, smooth flowing recording here by the Gibson Brothers compared to their early recordings. I have found that you will need to play this CD a few times in order to pick up on the great work that is evident of a well thought out and executed recording.

"It's All Right With Me", brings out the Gibson Brother harmonies that we are accustomed to hearing. For an upbeat song “I'm Not Wanted Here”, is a must for listening with plenty of instrument breaks for your listening pleasure. For me the Gibson Brothers perform a great rendition of one of my favorites, “Satan's Jeweled Crown”.

If you are looking for a CD that you can play over and over again, then this one is for you.

The Bluegrass Connection(tm)1995

The Bluegrass Connection(tm), is the second Bluegrass Music site created on the World Wide Web. Our mission, design and concept was developed during 1994 and The Bluegrass Connection website was introduced on the Internet during 1995 and presented at the 1995 IBMA in Owensboro, Kentucky.

During our early years The Bluegrass Connection would highlight a particular band or artist for a period of time on our homepage. As a result, many bands were able to reach out to their fans and introduce themselves to new audiences quickly. Due to many inquiries and requests to bring that feature back, we are seriously considering a "featured band" on our homepage again.
